Friday 1st & Saturday 2nd November 2013
NEW Venue for 2013: Rugby College, Technology Drive, Rugby, Warwickshire, CV21 1AR
We are sorry to leave our venues in Derby and Reading as they served us well in the past, but we wanted to find a new location, combining both venues into one new larger event that was centrally located in the country to give greater access to everyone. Our new venue at Rugby College offers excellent facilities with more and larger workshops rooms, better disabled access, in-house catering and more! With a large free car park on site with a range of great value hotels nearby, we are also able to offer church accommodation again this year at £5 per person including breakfast. The College is only 5 minutes’ walk from Rugby train station and is just off the M1, junction 19 (onto the M6).
By popular request Andy Holmes will be joining us again this year, as well as Bob Hartman, Steve Price, Messy Church, and other new workshop leaders to be confirmed soon. We will also be introducing a new Blacklight Puppetry Competition and a brand new style of Puppet Academy Performance by the 2013 team!
As we visit the different parts of the UK and attend some of the main Christian
conferences, we have the opportunity of meeting and introducing puppetry and
creative arts to people who might not have thought that they had a particular
gifting in this area.
Many attend our training days each year where during a full day of intensive
and hands-on training they leave inspired, encouraged and equipped to develop a
puppetry ministry in their own church. But where do we go next?
Join us for our biggest
event of the year! Our European Puppet and Creative Arts Ministry
Festival is for everyone who wants to learn how to share the gospel of
Christ using their creative skills.
The
answer for many is by attending our European Puppet and Creative Arts Ministry
Festival (EPMF for short). This is a two day event held at the end of half term on the Friday 1st to Saturday 2nd November in Rugby.
Join
many other puppeteers of all ages from all over the UK and Europe for a packed
programme over two days which will include:
Workshops |

Competitions |

Worship
|
as well as inspiring Main Stage Presentations by guest speakers
from the USA and the UK

There will be lots of practical, hands-on workshops for the absolute beginner and plenty of
classes for those who want to enhance their skills.
At the festival there will be our largest range of resources available for you
to see, try and take back home with you with many on special offer. This will
include many new products and a chance to see first hand the puppet creations
from One Way UK Creative Productions.
The
European festival is a great opportunity to meet and see puppeteers of all
ages from many different churches, denominations, countries and cultures. Meet,
share, have a drink with, laugh or cry with, pray with, inspire and encourage
each other. Learn new ideas to take away, yes, but also give a lot too, and
everyone who attends will be richer from the experience that is the One Way UK
European Festival.
Andy
Holmes and Gerbert (USA)
Andy and his friend Gerbert join us for the first
time at our festivals this year from the USA. He first learnt puppetry as a junior higher in church. He then created a puppet
character named "Gerbert" which eventually became the lead
in an internationally broadcast television series by the same name. TV Guide named it "one of the top ten preschool shows" in March
1994 and it was nominated for an ACE Award. Andy's first book deal
was a Gerbert book, too. "Gerbert's Favourite Bible Stories" on Chariot
Press. He has written over 40 books to date and, hopefully, will continue
to add more to that, illustrating most of his books. Andy has many years experience of
using puppets and developing unique characters and will be a great inspiration
to us all.

Bob Hartman (USA)
It is great to have
Bob back with us again, so come and get inspired to be creative as you share in
the greatest story with both children and adults alike. He
has been a professional storyteller for over 20 years travelling
widely across the world. Bob is the author of over fifty books including
the best-selling Lion Storyteller Bible, Best Mates, Telling the Bible,
Anyone Can Tell a Story, and All-Age Worship, an all-singing,
all-dancing, all-through-the-Bible, intergenerational collection of
story-based worship services.
Peter Gardini (UK)
I have had 35 years as a Christian magician. I am also the
webmaster for and member of The Fellowship of Christian Magicians (UK), member
of The Magic Circle and Equity. I like to make magical props myself where
possible and also to modify and adapt existing magic props to enable them to be
used to present a strong Gospel message. I spent several years as a scout
leader and also running church youth and children's groups. During my time in
the magical world I have been able to meet all sorts of wonderful characters
who passed on their gems to me and I have been able to encourage others with
some of my own crazy ideas. I hope that you will enjoy my workshops and be
encouraged to try some of the simple but very powerful Gospel tricks yourself.

Richard Copsey (UK)
Richard has been leading youth camps and All Age Worship for
many years and is with us to lead our worship times and share through workshops
how worship can truly be an all age experience that everyone can meet God
through. Richard ran a successful Training consultancy, offering
training in management and presentation skills, sales and marketing, before
taking on a full time role with Wavemakers.
Steve & Kay Morgan-Gurr (Children Worldwide) (UK) Created and have run Whizz Kids for
many years using a wide range of programmes and ideas. They will be sharing how
you can use puppets and other practical creative skills to share the gospel of
Jesus and bring children and young people to know Christ for themselves. Kay is
also Special Needs co-ordinator for Spring Harvest and will be sharing how we
can best meet the needs of everyone in our church and community and enabling
them to take as full a part as possible in both worship and service of the
church.
David
Hellyer (UK)
David brings many years of puppetry practice and teaching both in the
UK and the USA and challenges us to think, develop and put into practice new
skills to make our puppet characters more real and lifelike. David has not only performed internationally with his
puppets but also had the opportunity to teach internationally as
well. From all over mainland UK as well as further afield in
places like Northern Ireland, the Shetland Isles, Jersey, Spain,
Holland, Denmark and America. He has been teaching classes on various
elements of puppet performance for 14 years.
Peter
& Diane Hellyer (UK Regional Trainers) – Peter has been writing the Daily
Devotionals for the last 10 years which are read by over 6000 people each day.
Peter and Diane have developed their own ministry now just for the two of them
visiting a large number of care homes and Dementia wards in their local area.
Mary
Warren (UK Regional Trainer) – Mary is a very experienced and inspiring
puppeteer here in the UK and has travelled with her husband Keith to the
Philippines for many years to share the Gospel and teach puppetry over there.
Matt
Morgan (UK Regional Trainer) – Matt has developed and led the Mega Kids Club in Peterhead reaching
over 200 children each week. With his feet firmly on the ground and his hands
outstretched to the children in the community, Matt makes church real, relevant
and fun so that the children can get to know Jesus as their Saviour and friend
for themselves.
Fiona Stutton – Fiona has been the leader of the One Way UK Puppet Academy for
each of the last 5 years and is a very experienced puppeteer and Children’s
Worker.
John and Trichia Whitton – John has developed the range of all-in-one sound
systems which we have been supplying to puppet teams across the UK and beyond
for many years. We have greatly appreciated his advice and support and he is
available at both of the festivals to give advice and help.
This year’s Puppet Academy will be presenting
a brand new style of performance in the main showcase on the Friday evening as well as the
unwrapped version on the Saturday morning so you can see exactly how it was done!
With over 50 workshops on offer throughout the weekend, we are certain you will have a fun and creative learning experience!
