Script for 2 male puppets
Can be performed after the Olympics with a little
modification
Ben: Hey Jack, are
you looking forward to the Olympics? I am.
Jack: I can't wait
Ben, I am so exited, it's going to be great. Do you know, I would love to be
an Olympic athlete!
Ben: Would you
really? So, tell me, if you could be any type of Olympic athlete - what would
you be?
Jack: Let me think...
I know... I would love to be a diver like Tom Daley. I could fly through the air
doing lots of somersaults and then glide into the water and get the perfect
score!
Ben: There's one
big problem with that Jack, you are really afraid of heights. You would never
be able to climb up to the diving platform, you get sick climbing up the steps
to this stage sometimes!
Jack: Well... OK
then... I would be sprinter Usain Bolt! I'd leave the starting blocks like a bullet and leave the other runners
far behind!
Ben: Jack, you are
only two feet tall! How could you possible run that fast?
Jack: Actually, I am
two feet and three quarters of an inch tall, so get your facts right will you?
But, I suppose you have a point. OK
then, I would be a cyclist like Sir Chris Hoy! You can't deny I can go really
fast on my bicycle. I got home ages before you yesterday when we raced each
other from the shops.
Ben: Actually Jack
there might be a slight problem.
Jack: What?
Ben: Well the last
time I looked you still had stabilisers on your bike and I don't think
stabilisers are allowed on the cycle track in the Olympics.
Jack: I know, but I
keep falling off without them and it really hurts! Oh dear! I can't do anything
can I? It's hopeless.
Ben: Not at all
Jack, I know a race you can run in.
Jack: What race is
that? Please tell me!
Ben God has given
you and me a race to run Jack! We don't win by crossing the finishing line
first. We just need to stay in the race and stay faithful. There's lots we can
do to serve Him. It's not easy but Jesus started and finished the race we are
in so we need to lean on Him. He will see us through it.
Jack: I see. But
what use am I to God in His race? I can't do crafts like our Sunday school
teachers and I can't preach like Pastor Steve. I can't even reach the kettle to
make anyone a cup of tea after evening service!
Ben Hello! Look
around you! (Jack looks around, spots the audience and freezes)
Ben: All these
people are listening to us and learning more about Jesus. Last week we went
with the other puppets and sang hymns and choruses in a school. Next week we
are going perform at a fun day in a hospital. See, you are already doing really well in the race!
Jack: Oooer! That's
so cool! Me in a race! God's race! That's even better than the Olympics isn't
it?
Ben: I think so
Jack. But, come on, let's get that bike of yours and see if we can get you to
ride it without your stabilisers. Don't worry, we can practice on the football
field, it's grass and it won't hurt so much if you fall off!
